Matt's blog

The story of me, an American in Edinburgh, Scotland finding my place as a musician, a husband, a father and a Christian.

Maybe I won't change my name to Ravi...

For those of you who were wondering, playing sitar is indeed very much different from playing guitar. I don't think I'll be taking it up, mainly because the sitting position is a little bit of a stretch for me. I also don't have cool enough sunglasses.

It's gone

It sure is. Some of you may have seen in person or at least heard of my couch. It looks like it was made about 1973, has bright orange weave uphostery, and has spring mounted rockers. It's seen a fair amount of sittin' in its day and had collapsed in the middle so it's really more of a rocking hammock than a rocking couch. It also has an exposed jagged piece of metal right in the deepest part of the sag. Needless to say, this is an awesome piece of furniture. Well, it's gone. I traded it for two busted up cardboard boxes with some kids who were playing the game "Bigger and Better." The way the game works is that you start of with something small, worthless, and generally crappy, and then go door to door and try to trade up for something bigger and better. Well, a bunch of Jr. Highers were wandering around my dorm looking for bigger and better things, and so on a whim I decided to give them my couch for their cardboard boxes. As sad as this may make those of you who knew the couch, I think I may have gotten the better end of the deal. As you could probably tell from my description, the couch was somewhat past its prime. This way, I don't need to concern myself with disposing of it or storing it over the summer, plus I got some boxes for packing up stuff to go into storage, plus some Jr. High kids now have a really cool couch. All in all, I think it was a good decision. So let's all raise a glass and toast our old friend as he goes on his way. Here's to you, couch.

Soul Food!

Ok, ok...the day or two till the new post has blossomed into well over a week, but I've got a good reason for not posting: I've been too lazy. If that's not a good reason, I don't know what is. Anyway, tonight Jeni and I ate at Spokane's only soul food place, Chicken-N-More. Wow. Those be some good eats. Sorry, no waffles, but I'm willing to say that the food far exceeds that of Roscoe's. I had a BBQ beef brisket sandwich and Jeni had the fried catfish. We topped it off with a large order of jo-jos which made for a meal I'll be feeling for weeks. Well, if anyone who's reading this feels like coming up to Spokane, Jeni and I will spring for Chicken-n-More. It'll be worth your trip.

Here's the Update!!!

Ok, ok, you all have been whining for an update, but I'm not really in the mood to write one, but maybe this link will hold you over.
The link!!!
I found this today, but have no idea what the story behind it is. Let me know if you can figure it out.
Ok, and I'll put up a real new post in a day or two, or maybe even later tonight if I feel like it.
