The story of me, an American in Edinburgh, Scotland finding my place as a musician, a husband, a father and a Christian.

It's gone

It sure is. Some of you may have seen in person or at least heard of my couch. It looks like it was made about 1973, has bright orange weave uphostery, and has spring mounted rockers. It's seen a fair amount of sittin' in its day and had collapsed in the middle so it's really more of a rocking hammock than a rocking couch. It also has an exposed jagged piece of metal right in the deepest part of the sag. Needless to say, this is an awesome piece of furniture. Well, it's gone. I traded it for two busted up cardboard boxes with some kids who were playing the game "Bigger and Better." The way the game works is that you start of with something small, worthless, and generally crappy, and then go door to door and try to trade up for something bigger and better. Well, a bunch of Jr. Highers were wandering around my dorm looking for bigger and better things, and so on a whim I decided to give them my couch for their cardboard boxes. As sad as this may make those of you who knew the couch, I think I may have gotten the better end of the deal. As you could probably tell from my description, the couch was somewhat past its prime. This way, I don't need to concern myself with disposing of it or storing it over the summer, plus I got some boxes for packing up stuff to go into storage, plus some Jr. High kids now have a really cool couch. All in all, I think it was a good decision. So let's all raise a glass and toast our old friend as he goes on his way. Here's to you, couch.
